ChristCare Groups bring
growth! Vitality, warmth, and excitement characterize
ChristCare groups. They provide places of care and belonging, help
build
faithful disciples, and immerse group members and visitors in
joy-filled
Christian community.
Each ChristCare group
focuses on caring and sharing, Biblical equipping,
worship and mission service. There are several ChristCare groups at St.
James. If you would like to join one or to get more information about
ChristCare
groups email the church at stjameschurchoffice@yahoo.com

Small Group Ministry Develops Caring Relationships!
You are invited to join one of our ChristCare Small
Groups.
Here is a listing of the groups. Contact the group's leader to find out
the next time they meet and where so you can become a part of this
caring ministry.
1. Does Southern Comfort seem like an odd
name for a
church group? Possibly, however, the group is named "Southern", because
they meet in Shelbyville at different member's homes. The "Comfort"
part of their name reflects the comfortable style of this group and how
they give comfort to each other. They meet the 2nd & 4th
Thursdays of each month at 6:30pm. Their group leader is Joyce Kissell.
2. The Daylighters meet during the light of
day the 1st
and 3rd Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. and share the light of
Christ with each other. They are currently discussing the Lutheran Handbook and have copies available for anyone who cares to join them. Fred Hubert is the group leader.
3. The Beacons light the way for each
other, their
children and the children of the community as they sponsor the Vacation
Bible School program each summer. This small group of moms with young
children meet every other Tuesday at the church at 6:30pm. Babysitting
is provided and Jane Hale is their leader.
4. Sunday Servants meet on Sundays at 4
p.m. They
enjoy a meal together and serve the church and community by hosting the
Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Caroling each year. Russell Chaffee leads
this group at the church.
5. Herd of Cats is definitely an
interesting name for
a small group. They meet every other Saturday night at member's home,
eat supper together and discuss lots! They have fun attending plays
together, studying the Bible, helping with Trunk or Treat and hosting a
Ham and Bean supper. Sharon Scholl herds this group along.
6. Decades of
Disciples have 5 members
born is 4 different decades and we are all working at being better
disciples. We meet at members homes every other Monday with
leniancy for conflicts.
